Info: Dinner for the Mansion is the first of a series of major fund-raising efforts for the Friends of the Alabama’s Governor’s Mansion. The dinners will create awareness of the first comprehensive plan for the Mansion and the need for financial support to refine the interior of the Mansion with museum-quality furnishings and decorative arts. Dinner for the Mansion is January 26 at both the Governor’s Mansion, where Governor and Mrs. Bentley will be honored guests, and also at a wine/hors d’oeuvre gathering at the Farley-Hill House next door.
The Friends of the Alabama Governor’s Mansion is a non-profit organization dedicated to preservation of the Governor’s Mansion Complex in Montgomery’s historic Garden District.
The group worked closely with First Lady Dianne Bentley in obtaining passage of the First Lady Dianne Bentley Governor’s Mansion Preservation Act, signed into law on June 8, 2011.
The Friends will assist the newly created Alabama Mansion Authority, a state agency, in carrying out the legislative mandate of “preserving, maintaining, and protecting the historical and architectural integrity of the Governor’s Mansion Complex”.
Tickets are available for both the cocktail party and the dinner. Both venues will feature live music. The hors d’oeuvre and wine will kick off at 6:00 pm, $60 per person, and dinner guests will move to the Mansion for dinner at 7:00 pm, $150 per person or by corporate table sponsorship (dinner tickets include the cocktail party). Sponsors include Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama and Pickwick Antiques.
