On Monday July 30, 2012 the Alabama Folklife Association (AFA) will be moving programs into Troy Alabama. Beginning with the first ever Alabama Folklife Teaching Institute, an introductory program for educators of all backgrounds and positions to take place Monday, July 30-Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Troy Pike Cultural Arts Center (TPCAC). The institute will not only have excellent presentations on tools, resources, and sample programs, but include a hands-on training project held in conjunction with ALABAMA in the MAKING: Traditional Arts of People and Place, a traveling exhibit to arrive at the Johnson Center for the Arts and opening on Friday, August 3, 2012. The teaching institute can serve educators of all backgrounds and service areas as well as persons working to earn a degree in education.
